My mother recently approached me needing help in redesigning her outdoor landscape. I have experience in design; however, I have never actually designed a backyard. This was a new project for me. So, I began treating my mother like a client and I explored her taste and interests. She simply did not have a clue on what she wanted.

The mistake that many people make when deciding their outdoor decor is that they do not have one all-encompassing theme. Few people know their tastes well enough to create an attractive backyard completely on-the-fly. When seeking a backyard theme and outdoor decor, you can look for ideas anywhere. A gorgeous statue or a pretty flower can provide a designer (or yourself) with an initial thought that he/she (or you) can begin with. It's all about making design an organized effort.

Mom decided that she liked fountains, so we built an entire backyard around a gorgeous fountain that she immediately fell in love with. We shopped for outdoor decor online. We began with price comparison shopping. We eventually discovered that the most affordable outdoor decor was found at online superstores.
